The Oakdale Centre was established in 1998 by a group of committed and passionate practitioners with broad experience within mental healthcare.
We have developed a multi-disciplinary service with over fifty practitioners who have been carefully chosen for their qualifications and areas of expertise to provide a high level of clinical care.
Care that extends to everyone. . .
We provide services to adults, children and young people in a number of different settings, and over the years we have found that our clients have come to trust us. They use our services at different times of their lives, turning to us when they need support. They recommend us to friends and family and we provide liaison with other health and social care professionals when required.
“I came to see you nearly 20 years ago and you helped me with my marital difficulties. My two children are grown up now and my daughter is having some difficulties with her little boy who is being bullied at school. Can one of your colleagues help us?”
We’re here to help. . .

The Oakdale Centre has robust policies and procedures in place in order to ensure that it provides the appropriate standard of clinical and corporate governance in relation to work with clients and how it functions as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company.
All practitioners carry professional indemnity insurance and have enhanced DBS checks.
The Oakdale Centre and its practitioners are committed to providing therapies that have a proven evidence base. For our clients this means that they can feel confident in the knowledge that the therapies we provide are well researched and validated, and in line with guidance provided by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
Our practitioners are experts in their field and through their own continuous professional development they strive to keep themselves abreast of new developments in Psychology, Psychiatry, Counselling and Psychotherapy.
In all of our different services, we ask clients to complete clinical and outcomes questionnaires so that we can measure the extent to which we have helped them improve. Clients are also asked to give us feedback on their experience of our services, which helps us ensure that we continue to provide a high standard of clinical care.
Oakdale has centres in Harrogate, Halifax and Horsforth.
All of our centres are equipped with fully staffed reception areas, comfortable waiting rooms, and purposely designed consulting rooms for our work with adults, children and families.
Our Harrogate centre is located in a Victorian building overlooking Valley Gardens. Our Halifax centre is close to the town, a short walk from the main bus and train stations. Our Horsforth centre is in the grounds of the Grove Methodist Church, just off the high street.
Oakdale practitioners work from a number of other venues and we can also arrange home visits if necessary. In addition, we provide telephone and online psychological therapies nationwide.
