Dr Phillipa Sammons
Iβm a Clinical Psychologist specialising in mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma recovery, adjustment challenges, and post-diagnostic support for ADHD and autism. I work with adults, children, and families, supporting individuals to better understand themselves, navigate emotional difficulties, and create meaningful change.
My approach is integrative and compassionate, drawing on evidence-based psychological models to meet clientsβ needs. I am particularly informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and systemic working. My work is collaborative and values-based, supporting clients to develop practical skills alongside self-understanding.
Alongside therapeutic work, I have extensive experience working systemically with families, carers, and professional networks, particularly within neurodiversity, learning disabilities, and trauma-informed care. This includes consultation, supervision, functional assessment, and specialist training, drawing on trauma recovery principles, PACE, and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS).
I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), with over seventeen yearsβ NHS experience across mental health, learning disabilities, and neurology.
Iβm motivated by a strong belief in peopleβs capacity for growth when they feel understood, supported, and empowered. As a psychologist, I aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental reflective space where clients can build self-compassion, reconnect with their values, and move towards a rich, full and meaningful life.
