Understanding eating difficulties.
At Oakdale, we offer specialist, trauma-informed assessment and treatment for older adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of eating and body-based difficulties.

Appointments are available online or in person, for flexibility and comfort.
Our approach.
We understand that eating and body-based difficulties can affect anyone, at any weight, and are often hidden or distressingly cyclical.

We work collaboratively to help you build confidence, resilience, and lasting wellbeing.
β

Three pillars of change.
Psychology. Body. Nutrition.
Our treatment model is built around three interconnected pillars:
Who we support.
We help individuals experiencing:
Anorexia
Bulimia
Orthorexia
Binge Eating Disorder (BED) and food addiction
Eating difficulties not otherwise specified (EDNOS)
Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)
Weight management difficulties
We also address related challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, and relationship or identity issues that often accompany eating-based concerns.
Specialist psychological therapies.
Our experienced therapists provide compassionate, effective support for a wide range of mental health and wellbeing needs - including anxiety, depression, trauma, eating difficulties, and relationship challenges.β
We use trusted, NICE-recommended approaches such as: β¨CBT, DBT, EMDR, internal family systems (IFS), mindfulness-based therapies, schema therapy, compassion-focused therapy, and family or couples therapy.
Every plan is tailored to you β trauma-informed, flexible, and designed to help you feel understood, supported, and ready to move forward.

Body-based therapy.
Our body-based therapy uses calm, therapeutic movement and breathwork to help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress, and rebuild connection between body and mind.
This is not a yoga class β itβs a clinically informed, trauma-sensitive approach that complements psychological or nutritional therapy, helping you restore balance and confidence in your body.
Sessions are delivered by our specialist yoga therapist in Harrogate or online nationwide, offering safe, flexible support for anyone recovering from trauma, anxiety, or eating-related difficulties.
Β£85 per session - self-funded or employer-funded.

Nutrition and specialist dietetic support.
Our specialist dietitians provide tailored support to help you rebuild a healthy relationship with food. This includes nutritional rehabilitation, meal planning, education, and behaviour change strategies to promote safe, sustainable recovery.
Youβll receive compassionate guidance that aligns with your therapeutic goals and adapts as your recovery progresses.

Assessment & treatment.
Clarity first, then care that fits.
We offer a comprehensive, holistic assessment to understand your unique needs and goals.
After assessment, youβll receive a shared formulation and personalised treatment plan combining any of the three core pillars.
Assessments typically explore:
Lifestyle and wellbeing factors, including sleep, exercise, stress, and self-care
Relationships and emotional patterns
Physical and psychological health
Significant life experiences and trauma history
