Natalie Ward-Collins
With ten years of clinical experience as an Art Psychotherapist, I have worked with many different children and adult client groups. My work with children has focused on adoption, behavioural issues and attendance in school, learning disabilities, ADHD and autism, exploring LGBTQ+ identities, self harm, emotional dysregulation, anxiety and low mood. I have also worked adults experiencing a range of complex mental health issues including eating disorders and personality disorders.
I have previously worked in NHS inpatient settings, primary, secondary and Pupil Referral Unit schools, mental health charities, and have worked as an associate practitioner with Oakdale for several years, offering support to adopted young people and private clients. Alongside Art Psychotherapy, I am also trained as a Life Story Practitioner in adoption support work. Alongside my Art Psychotherapy practice, I work in the NHS as an Interpersonal Therapist
My therapeutic approach is tailored to a clients needs in an open or directive way, giving space and support for the creative and cognitive process of the individual at a pace that is right for them. I focus on the importance of understanding the connections to emotions, feelings and reactions in the body, alongside believing that the most important aspect of therapy is to hold a safe and non-judgmental space to foster a therapeutic relationship that is trusting, supportive and compassionate. This is key for people to feel safe to explore their identity, build self esteem and make sense of issues affecting them.
I offer face to face/online one-to-one and dyadic (with parents) sessions.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and IPT UK.
