Attachment & trauma

What are Creative Attunement and Attachment Sessions?

Some children show us far more through play than they can put into words. These sessions are our own approach to assessment, developed by our specialist clinical team. Here is what happens, and why.

What are Creative Attunement and Attachment Sessions?

Not a test, a conversation through play.

Creative Attunement and Attachment Sessions are a bespoke, evidence-informed assessment and therapeutic approach. Rather than formal testing, they use creative, play-based interaction to explore how a child connects, communicates and regulates. Structured, relational activities help children express themselves safely and authentically, in a natural and child-centred way.

What we look at.

Our clinicians draw on attachment theory, trauma research and developmental psychology to understand:

  • Emotional regulation and soothing
  • Trust, safety and relational repair
  • Sensory integration and body awareness
  • Play, curiosity and engagement
  • Self esteem and confidence in relationships

Who delivers the sessions.

Each assessment is delivered by trauma-informed practitioners using creative therapeutic approaches, including Theraplayยฎ, DDP, and art or play-based methods. Sessions are spread across several appointments so your child has time to build trust and familiarity.

What happens next.

The result is a comprehensive, personalised picture of your child's strengths and challenges. That understanding guides decisions about the most effective therapy or support for them.
