Andrew Gavaghan
I am a specialised integrative psychotherapist. I have vast experience offering therapy to adults and young people who may be facing a broad spectrum of emotional and mental health challenges
I have a specific interest and experience in trauma focused therapies supporting and treating those who have been adversely affected by distressing or traumatic experiences. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy endorsed by the NHS for treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
My approach is integrative drawing on different therapeutic models to offer flexible bespoke therapy tailored to each personβs unique needs. My therapy is founded on the importance of a therapeutic relationship that has genuine warmth and appropriate humour. I therefore aim to foster a professional, trusting, collaborative environment built on mutual respect where clients feel understood and safe to express themselves openly, free from judgement.
I have been awarded various qualifications including an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy alongside Postgraduate Diplomaβs in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Counselling and Psychotherapy. I hold Senior Accreditation status with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) reflecting my extensive expertise, experience and steadfast commitment to the highest standards of ethical practice.
I am enthusiastically committed to ongoing learning and actively engage with current research. This is reflected by my attainment of a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) recognising my research contributions to therapeutic practice.
I am deeply passionate about supporting and helping individuals to overcome their difficulties, empowering them to pursue a life that is truly meaningful.
