Margaret Wilson
I am an accredited UK Council for Psychotherapy Child, Young Person and Parent/adult Psychotherapist. I have experience working with attachment and developmental trauma, neurodiversity, school refusal, phobias, I have an interest in supporting children and young people who are struggling to understand their own emotions or have difficulty expressing their thoughts and feelings verbally, often this can present as anxiety, restricting behaviours which may impact relationships with friends and family.
My therapeutic approach is relational, integrative and interventionalist. I offer a flexible approach, whilst I hold the outcome in mind, I work at the pace of each child, young person or adult. In our sessions we may use talking, play, games, or use creative arts. Therapeutic interventions are woven through out the session. These are underpinned by a thorough and robust theoretical knowledge.
In my role as a Psychotherapist I provide therapy for children, young people, parents and adults. In the Oakdale Centre as well as offering private therapy, I am a part of the adoption therapeutic support team and provide psychotherapy in both a High School and Primary School.
Another aspect of my work is supporting Parents and Carers who would like to build their understanding of developmental stages and strategies to help strengthen their parent-child relationship. Alongside this I support families who are separating/divorcing.
I hold a Diploma in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Young Person Psychotherapy, and I am a UKCP-registered Clinical Child and Young Person Psychotherapist as well as a member of the BACP.
